Summary of Role:
As part of the Energy Team you will be primarily responsible for the on-site wiring of protection systems and control systems for transmission, distribution and power generation station projects. Modifications will be required to be electrically tested for safety, prior to commissioning by our commissioning Engineers. The role will obviously require travel to customer sites across the UK so flexibility and a willingness to travel is a must along with the technical competence required of this role.
Main Activities
1. The assembly and wiring of electrical of protection systems and control systems for transmission of varying size and complexity using drawings, parts lists, and specifications. This shall include cable installations and terminations, glanding and termination of paired and multicore cables, Copper, and FO communications cables as necessary.
2. Mechanical assembly of cubicles, framework, cable tray/ladder racking and desks.
3. Quality of own work and rework identified during inspection and test.
4. Updating issue logs and communicating directly with responsible Site Manager, design, or commissioning engineers to resolve issues identified.
5. Equipment build and configuration inspection, LVD electrical safety checks, Earth bond continuity test, Point to point wiring checks, High voltage withstand test, Insulation resistance test, Power up, fusing and equipment functionality checks
6. Any other equipment specific tests as detailed in the project hardware test specification for the temporary test rigs or customer cubicles.
Essential Requirements:
7. Experience of E, C & I installation (Substation Control Systems, Protections systems or similar) on National Grid Sites
8. Able to read and interpret circuit diagrams, general assembly prints, wiring schedules and parts lists.
9. Must be prepared to travel and work away at customer sites.
10. Full UK Driving License.
