About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to join an established EHS team at a growing aerospace and engineering facility based at Prestwick. This is a hands-on, site-based role providing practical EHS support to management and employees, helping to raise standards, embed compliant processes, and support regulatory and operational requirements across the site and wider region as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day EHS support to management and employees to achieve high EHS performance standards
Ensure compliance with UK Environmental, Health & Safety legislation and applicable enterprise standards
Act as the primary EHS point of contact on site, liaising with regulatory authorities as required
Prepare and maintain EHS compliance documentation, reports, and permit applications
Conduct incident investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions
Lead and review workplace risk assessments and develop Safe Working Instructions
Evaluate workplace hazards and support new projects and business activities
Develop and deliver EHS training, inductions, and awareness programmes
Review contractor, supplier, and vendor activities for EHS compliance
Support environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and emergency preparedness
Travel occasionally to support other regional sites, as required
Work closely with the regional EHS team to ensure consistency and best practice
Initial Focus Areas
The role will play a key part in strengthening EHS maturity on site, including:
Conducting detailed activity and task risk assessments
Implementing a robust chemical management system (COSHH, REACH, PPE, procurement, training)
Reviewing machining, crane, and powered industrial vehicle operations
Enhancing emergency preparedness and response arrangements
Establishing EHS training frameworks and health surveillance programmes
Essential Skills & Experience
Self-motivated with a proactive, practical approach to safety
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Practical EHS experience within an engineering, manufacturing, or mechanical environment
Solid verbal and written English skills
Qualifications
Minimum Level 3 qualification in Health & Safety or Environmental Management
