About Us
Penrith Cleaning Services Ltd is a growing cleaning and property support business providing domestic, commercial, and holiday let services across Cumbria. We're now launching an in-house maintenance division and are seeking a dedicated individual to help found and shape this new area of the company.
This is a unique opportunity to build something from the ground up, with the support of a team and vision that values trust, pride in work, and long-term growth.
We welcome:
* Semi-retired tradespeople who want part-time, purposeful work
* Students or early-career tradespeople looking to grow and develop hands-on skills
Role Overview
As the first member of our in-house maintenance service, you'll lead the way in delivering high-quality, reliable property support across our client base. The role is hands-on and varied, focused on preventative maintenance, light repairs, and ensuring our properties stay guest-ready.
You'll be supported with a company van, tools, and PPE, and work directly with the company director as we grow the service together.
Key Responsibilities * Maintenance & Property Support
* Perform minor repairs (e.g., handles, loose fittings, paint touch-ups, adjustments)
* Carry out guest-ready property checks before arrivals
* Support basic outdoor work (e.g., leaf clearing, light gardening)
* Complete seasonal tasks such as gutter clearing, outdoor prep
* Assist with simple DIY installs (e.g., shelves, blinds, curtain rails)
* Communicate effectively with clients and internal staff
* Help document completed tasks (checklists, photos, notes)
* Advise on maintenance issues or recurring problems
* Help shape the structure, standards, and tools of the maintenance division
Who We're Looking For
* Reliable and self-motivated – you'll be trusted to manage your own time and jobs
* Hands-on and experienced – comfortable with tools and quick fixes
* Good communicator – with property owners, guests, and cleaners
* Proud of your work – with an eye for detail and consistency
* Forward-thinking – interested in growing a service, not just doing a job
Ideal Backgrounds
* Retired or semi-retired tradesperson wanting to stay active and make a difference
* Student/apprentice in plumbing, joinery, electrical, or general building, seeking experience and real responsibility
* Property caretaker or holiday let maintenance background
What We Provide
* Company van and fuel
* All necessary PPE and tools
* Support from management to build this into a structured division
* Flexible hours, ideal for those seeking steady part-time work
* A respectful, family-run company that values its people
Bonus If You Have:
* Multi-trade skills or a generalist maintenance background
* Experience in holiday let or short-let environments
* Good local knowledge of Penrith and surrounding areas
