Job Summary:
Our rapidly growing 'build to rent' segment requires an additional financial accountant to take ownership of the accounting set up and all aspects of financial reporting for two new properties launching early next year. This role will play a key part in the transition of these assets to operational companies from our development entities. Additionally, you will take on responsibility for a portion of existing build to rent properties including preparation of financial statements and management accounts.
The build to rent segment comprises of all private residential rental assets on the estate. This includes six properties currently with five additional towers coming online over the next three years. The accountant will be a key member of the finance team and be able to apply knowledge gained on this set up to future properties
4 days in office / 1 WFH
Salary: circa £65k
Main Responsibilities:
- Establish and embed new accounting processes;
- Ensure accurate and timely transition of transactions to operational entities;
- Complete monthly management reporting;
- Oversee accounting administrators to ensure daily BAU transactions are processed correctly;
- Work closely with the Vertus operational management team to ensure necessary and accurate financial information is available in a timely manner;
- Working in partnership with the commercial finance team to make sure that quarterly segment reporting is prepared accurately and in accordance with the requirements of the Group's main reporting deadlines;
- Delivery of annual financial statements within the required timeframe;
- Liaison with auditors and dealing with audit queries;
- Ensure key areas of utilities and staff costs across the segment are accounted for correctly;
- Identify and implement system and process improvements;
- Ensure intercompany billings for the segment are accurate and up to date;
- Perform other finance tasks as required.
What We Require of You:
1. Must be qualified ACA or ACCA and have experience in a hands-on accountancy role including the preparation of financial accounts. Post qualified industry experience of two years is preferred.
2. Experience overseeing day to day operational transactions, AR, AP would be advantageous.
3. Must be able to self-manage, take ownership of tasks and bear responsibility for work produced.
4. Experience with 'Yardi Voyager' will be beneficial but not essential
5. Must possess good general IT skills and be an advanced user of Excel. Experience in using Yardi and CaseWare Accounts Production software would be advantageous.
6. Must be hard-working, meticulous and demonstrate attention to detail.
7. Must be an excellent team player, with a flexible and willing attitude to work and able to communicate effectively at all levels
