Senior Practitioner - Children with Disabilities (CWD Team) - Tameside Council | £40/hr Umbrella | Agency Role
Tameside Council is seeking a highly experienced Senior Practitioner for the Children with Disabilities (CWD) Team. This is an exciting opportunity for qualified social workers with post-qualifying experience in children's social care to make a real impact on the lives of children with complex needs and their families.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct complex assessments and care planning for children with disabilities, addressing risk and safeguarding concerns.
Lead investigations of allegations of significant harm and coordinate multi-agency safety plans.
Provide high-quality written reports for Child Protection Conferences, statutory reviews, and court proceedings.
Facilitate reflective practice, workshops, and group supervisions for social workers and practitioners.
Collaborate with families, carers, and partner agencies to deliver effective safeguarding and support services.
Mentor, co-work, and support less experienced social workers, promoting best practice standards.
Contribute to strategic planning, policy development, and quality assurance processes within the Children's Services Directorate.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Qualified Social Worker (Degree/DipSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent) with current Social Work England registration.
Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience in statutory children's social care, ideally working with children with disabilities.
Strong knowledge of children's safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice frameworks.
Experience in case management, risk assessment, care planning, and multi-agency working.
Excellent communication, analytical, and organisational skills.
Full driving licence and Enhanced DBS check
