The Category Director - Technology is responsible for management, leadership, and strategic direction across technology, ensuring excellent customer service, value for money, and governance compliance. This role involves professional leadership within their pillar, collaboration with other procurement leaders, and deputising for the Chief Procurement Officer as needed. The director will also support cross-category initiatives, particularly in IT architecture and operating models.
As a strategic advisor to IT leadership and executive stakeholders, you'll be at the forefront of digital transformation, fostering innovation, agility, and competitive advantage through supplier partnerships. You'll oversee end-to-end sourcing strategies for all IT categories, fueling innovation and business growth.
This high-impact role requires bold leadership, deep technical expertise, and the ability to drive results in a complex organization. Reporting to the Chief Procurement Officer, this hybrid role involves working from our Farringdon, London head office.
Key Accountabilities
1. Partner with senior internal customers and leaders to understand their needs and advocate effective procurement resource use.
2. Develop and implement procurement category strategies to meet business needs, deliver value, and manage risks.
3. Manage executive-level supplier relationships to deliver value, innovation, and ESG targets.
4. Ensure sourcing activities are efficient, timely, and compliant with policies.
5. Collaborate with other Category Directors to optimize resource use across procurement functions.
6. Maintain accurate contract and project records, providing data and insights to drive value and mitigate risks.
7. Provide negotiation guidance and support to maximize value and manage contractual escalations.
About You
* Experience leading significant technology estate transformations.
* Proven ability to develop and implement compelling Category Strategies in technology.
* Accountability for major activities with autonomy to interpret policies and set standards.
* Proficient with Source to Pay solutions and procurement process optimization.
* Experience with working capital improvement techniques.
* Track record of delivering value through strategic sourcing and category management.
* Director-level management experience leading strategic category teams.
* Experience managing complex change initiatives.
* Background in developing business plans and strategies.
* Experience with significant technology transformational projects.
* Knowledge of SAP systems.
Qualifications
* Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (MCIPS) qualification.
* Degree with relevant postgraduate experience or qualifications.
