Groves Health Hinchley Wood is recruiting a salaried GP for up to 5 sessions per week. The practice serves over 37,000 patients across four sites in New Malden, Wimbledon, Richmond & Hinchley Wood. The team is friendly, supportive and dedicated to high-quality patient care.
Job Description
The post holder will provide a portfolio of general medical services, including managing a clinical team, managing a caseload or Groves Health wide projects, ensuring high standards of care for all registered and temporary patients, and maintaining clinical effectiveness and quality. The role involves making professional autonomous decisions, ensuring internal and external quality standards (including Care Quality Commission and commissioners) are met, developing team relationships, and taking a lead role on CQC compliant projects and continuous quality improvement.
Responsibilities
* Cover clinical management of patients in surgery, including initiating investigations, reviewing results, and making referrals to secondary care or other providers as appropriate.
* Analyse and interpret history, presenting symptoms, physical findings and diagnostic information to develop differential diagnoses.
* Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately, including emergency care.
* Formulate actions based on scientific rationale, evidence-based standards, and guidelines.
* Use National/Local health information and guidelines to evaluate patient needs, initiate referrals, coordinate care and programme management.
* Develop and utilise a follow-up system to ensure patients receive appropriate services and evaluate them.
* Provide counselling on drug regimes, side-effects and interactions; prescribe medication if authorised, from formulary.
* Order, perform and interpret common screening and diagnostic tests.
* Communicate patient health status to relevant health care professionals.
* Provide health promotion and disease prevention services.
* Maintain accurate contemporaneous records in the practice IT system, considering Caldicott Principles.
* Act on alerts/reminders (e.g., QOF) during routine consultations.
* Undertake extended-hour surgeries as needed to meet access requirements and contractual obligations.
* Provide cross-coverage to other Groves Health practices where required.
* Respond to medical problems with history-taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and referral as appropriate.
* Provide preventive care and advice; support patients referred by nursing staff.
* Provide certifications in line with NHS GMS Regulations and adhere to prescribing formulary and guidelines.
* Record clear, contemporaneous IT-based consultation notes; collect data for audits; issue computer-generated prescriptions where possible.
* Undertake duties typical of a GP in primary care.
Person Specification
Essential qualifications include being on the General Practitioner Register, DBS clearance, ongoing NHS appraisal, and other statutory requirements. Desirable qualifications include MRCGP, DCH, DRCOG, and other postgraduate credentials. Also listed are experience and skills in clinical governance, audits, service change, teaching, and working with Integrated Care Boards/CCGs.
Experience
* Excellent communication skills; experience with MS Office; experience in evidence-based medicine, patient evaluation and triage; knowledge of QOF and current guidelines; interest in clinical management/leadership/teaching; experience in audits and quality improvement; ability to implement change; understanding of NHS and needs of vulnerable patient groups.
