Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter on behalf of a bespoke electrical and mechanical engineering company that manages the complete mechanical engineering process – from design and manufacture to commissioning. The team mainly works within Water Utilities and has operated for over 35 years as a family‑owned organisation with a strong reputation for high‑quality work and excellent customer service.
The client base includes some of the biggest names in the engineering sector, mainly within the Waste Water and Clean Water industries. Services span surveying, design, fabrication, installation and implementation.
The Fitter will hold a technical role within the company and should set examples of excellent conduct and professionalism. For individual projects, they will report to the assigned Project Manager.
This permanent position is based in Cowes, working Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm. Pay is £19 – £23 per hour, depending on experience. Responsibilities
* Adhere to Companies Policies, Procedures & Legal Practices.
* Adhere to the Companies Health & Safety Policies & Procedures.
* Adhere to the Companies Quality Management system.
* Adhere to site‑specific rules & regulations & keep sites clean & tidy.
* Follow, read & sign the RAMS (Risk & Method Statements).
* Read, understand and follow design drawings (2D/3D).
* Carry out mechanical installations & repairs – including pumps, fans & gearboxes.
Skills & Qualifications
* Water industry experience (preferred).
* Full mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications.
* CSCS Card.
* Proficiency in reading engineering drawings.
* Ability to work independently and unsupervised.
* Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong understanding of Health and Safety.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
