Location: Defence contract - NorthYorkshire, HG3 Salary: Up to £54,000 Benefits Permanent, Full time Join as a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer - KeepingCritical Systems Operational 24/7 Are you a skilledMechanical or Electrical Engineer ready to take on a vital role in maintainingmission-critical systems? Join the Facilities Control Centre (FCC) within theOperations Technical Compound (OTC) and play a key part in ensuring the uninterruptedoperation of critical infrastructure in a high-stakes environment. What You'll Do: As aMechanical/Electrical Engineer, you'll work in a 24/7 rotating shift system,reporting to the Facilities Watch Officer (FWO) Shift Manager. Yourresponsibilities include overseeing the maintenance and operation of criticalutilities infrastructure to ensure continuous service and optimal performance. You will track theserviceability of mission-critical plant and infrastructure through the CMMSsystem. When equipment failures occur, you'll initiate responses bycoordinating in-house staff or contractors as necessary, ensuring all actionsalign with established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and documentingthem accurately. Monitoring theeffectiveness of Planned Maintenance activities is key to the role. You willuse the CMMS to assess ongoing performance, provide reports to the FWOregarding any deficiencies, and manage daily operations involving contractorsand internal teams. Additionally, you will help develop, review, and maintainEngineering Operating Procedures for the systems under FCC oversight. The position alsorequires managing emergency mission-critical spares and generator fuelsupplies. You'll ensure adequate resources are maintained, ordering supplies asneeded through station protocols. A detailedunderstanding of facilities infrastructure and subsystems is essential. Youwill assist the FWO in reviewing SOPs, developing emergency action plans, andparticipating in training and station exercises to ensure readiness for anysituation. Acting as the dutyAuthorised Person (AP) Electrical during shifts, you will ensure compliancewith MOD safe systems of work. This includes planning work schedules, advisingcontractors and staff on safety precautions for high-voltage systems, andensuring all documentation and records are up to date. You may also take onresponsibilities related to mechanical and pressure systems. You will monitorcritical systems such as the Building Management Control System and SCADAinterfaces, taking appropriate actions to maintain optimal system performance.During emergencies, you'll apply SOPs and make necessary system adjustments,documenting any changes. What You'll Bring: To be considered forthis role, you'll need an ONC or Level 3 NVQ qualification in a relevantelectrical engineering discipline, along with at least three years ofprofessional experience. Emergency First Aid at Work certification and a validCAT B driving license are required. Within two years, you must obtain andmaintain the appointment of AP Electrical. Proficiency with Microsoft Officeapplications and industry-standard software is essential. Desirablequalifications include working towards or holding EngTech status with arelevant institution and familiarity with MOD environments and procedures. Security Clearance Requirements: You must obtain andmaintain DV Enhanced Security Vetting and be a UK or US national withindefinite leave to remain in the UK. Why Join Us?
