Public Realm Lead Operative

Salary - £30.024 - £33,699 (Grade 5)

Hours - 37

Contract type - Full time, permanent

Work Style - Field

A Category C1 UK Driving Licence and Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is required for this role.

We are looking for anindividualto undertake a full range of skilled and unskilled tasks required for the effective and efficient maintenance of the City, undertaking horticultural operations consistent with an NVQ Level 2/3.

Role responsibilities:

* To provide team leadership within work teams, ensuring that staff are undertaking work to the required standards and in a safe and efficient manner.
* To carry out skilled cleansing and horticultural activities, including fine turf and sports field maintenance, bedding, ornamental and selective pruning and other necessary activities etc, providing direction for lower graded staff as appropriate.
* To safely use and correctly set the full range of tools and equipment supplied by the service area, including the use of powered hand tools and light plant and provide instruction to lower graded staff as appropriate.
* To safely apply, approved pesticides and direct other staff undertaking such work (where appropriately qualified) and be suitably qualified and trained in numerous elements of grounds maintenance, including the likes of Chainsaws, Tractor use, C1+E certificated.

Role requirements:

* Current full UK driving licence up to 7.5 tonnes and Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
* NVQ 2/3 or higher, in horticulture/street cleansing or equivalent
* The use of vehicles - Precinct / Channel Sweepers, Tractors as appropriate.
* Supervisor experience and experience of horticultural duties in a school setting.
* Working outdoors and a willingness to work in varying weather conditions, undertaking manual labour and technical work.
