Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist - Rheumatology/Musculoskeletal
An exciting opportunity has arisen to take on the role of Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal (MSK) Clinical Specialist within East area of BCUHB. The role is an integral part of the Rheumatology multidisciplinary team supporting staff in rheumatology clinics and musculoskeletal physiotherapy departments in the Wrexham and Flintshire area, providing clinical leadership to the service.
The position involves teaching, training and supervision of staff, representing the service in Clinical Network Groups (CNGs), and contributing to the development of clinical pathways by providing clinical expertise. The post holder will manage a complex caseload and support other staff with the management of complex patient presentations.
As an autonomous, extended scope practitioner, you will deliver a clinical specialist service to patients referred to rheumatology and MSK physiotherapy services.
Main duties of the job
1. Take a clinical lead role in the assessment and treatment of patients, mainly those with complex presentations.
2. Attend weekly Rheumatology MDT meetings, providing clinical input from a physiotherapy perspective.
3. Work as an autonomous, clinical specialist physiotherapist and collaborate with the advanced practitioner physiotherapist to develop and deliver a high quality clinical service throughout BCUHB. Lead by example; provide a high standard of specialist assessment and treatment of patients in a variety of locations.
4. Develop competencies for frontline clinical staff within the section to assess, clinically reason, and effectively treat routine cases, identifying those with complex needs for support. Support staff to develop skills to identify potential serious pathology in patients referred for physiotherapy.
5. Provide an ongoing rolling training programme and support package to develop appropriate knowledge and skills in the workforce within the specialism and rotational staff base.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
