Job Title:Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager

Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and experiencedHealth, Safety & Environment Managerto join a busy manufacturing site in Fife. This is a key leadership role focused on driving a positive safety culture, ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, and delivering improvements across site operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Health & Safety:
* Lead and develop a culture of safety-first across all departments
* Conduct risk assessments and ensure Safe Systems of Work are in place and trained against
* Drive near-miss and hazard reporting, ensuring timely investigation and action
* Ensure compliance with all HSE regulations and internal policies
* Lead on all accident and incident investigations and maintain required documentation
* Deliver site-wide health & safety training and refreshers
* Maintain accurate records and produce regular reports for management and audits
* Chair health & safety committee meetings and support daily operational reviews
Environment & Sustainability:
* Ensure environmental compliance and reduce site environmental impact
* Lead environmental initiatives and sustainability action plans
* Oversee waste, pollution control, energy use, and sustainable procurement
* Maintain and improve the site’s environmental management system
Training & Development:
* Audit staff training records and ensure alignment with compliance requirements
* Develop training matrices and coordinate training for qualified trainers
* Monitor ongoing development and coaching to improve knowledge and behaviours
Audit & Compliance:
* Prepare for and lead external audits including HSE, ethical and insurance
* Support internal audit activity, drive corrective actions, and ensure closure
* Liaise with relevant external bodies (e.g. regulators, insurers) when required
Engagement & Culture:
* Foster open communication on HSE matters across all levels
* Be a visible presence on the factory floor, working with teams daily
* Encourage continuous improvement and a shared responsibility for safety
Required Experience & Qualifications:
NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
Tech IOSH (or higher)
IEMA, CIWEM or similar environmental membership preferred
Proven experience in an HSE leadership role within manufacturing or similar environments
Strong understanding of UK health & safety and environmental legislation
Experience with audits, risk assessments, and training delivery
Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage teams at all levels
