About Us
The Fostering Service in Middlesbrough has an exciting opportunity to recruit an experienced Social Worker as part of the Kinship Assessment Team.
Social workers within the Kinship Assessment Team have the responsibility of assessing, and training prospective Kinship carers and attending panel for approval and submitting their assessments to court.
To help us recruit social workers who are committed to working in Middlesbrough we are currently offering a 15% supplement to social work salaries. This additional 15% will be reviewed at the end of March 2027.
You will work alongside the child’s social worker and other professionals to respond to enquiries and complete home visits, assessing a candidates suitability as Kinship carers, using Coram BAAF Form K and associated templates. Experience of completing complex family assessments would be essential. As a creative, resilient, and responsible member of our team, you will be helping to create happy homes for children, young people, and their carer’s.
As part of this we work closely with social workers for our children who are Looked After. Along with our colleagues we have a responsibility for securing permanence for children with plans of adoptions, long-term fostering, and special guardianship orders.
They work closely with partners as corporate parents to support children to develop their life skills, achieve to their full potential and work towards their aspirations. This is an exciting time of change within the service which is both rewarding and challenging.

This vacancy is part time working 22.2 hours per week and fixed term until 28.11.2026
