Due to continued growth, we are now seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our infrastructure team based in Burton Upon Trent.
The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of projects, supporting their team from inception to handover, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. This pivotal role requires strong leadership to support the Operations Director in delivering profitable growth for our business.
The projects you will lead involve MEP services to rail depots, including new builds and extensions/refurbishments, such as offices, sidings, and depots, with project values ranging from £5m to £20m, all based in England.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the entire project lifecycle from inception to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to specified quality standards.
2. Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring financial efficiency and accountability.
3. Manage change effectively with support from the commercial team, recognize early signs of delays, and manage risks by ensuring contractual compliance.
4. Set procurement targets in collaboration with the procurement team to maximise project profitability.
5. Ensure the design process is completed efficiently and aligns with the employer's requirements.
6. Act as the main point of contact for stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and community members.
7. Hire, train, and mentor project managers and team members to build a cohesive team capable of achieving business objectives.
8. Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies through collaborative engagement.
9. Ensure all activities comply with relevant regulations and safety standards.
10. Maintain high quality standards throughout the project, conduct inspections, complete handover paperwork, and prepare reports.
Skills and Experiences:
1. Proven ability to plan, organise, and oversee rail projects efficiently and to specifications.
2. Strong compliance culture with assertive and proactive project procedures enforcement.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder interaction.
4. Leadership skills to motivate and guide project teams.
5. Analytical skills for issue resolution during projects.
6. Experience in completing projects within specified timelines.
7. Understanding of rail systems, regulations, and industry standards.
8. Risk management skills specific to rail projects.
9. Experience liaising with contractors and suppliers.
10. Proficiency in budgeting and financial management.
11. Adaptability to changing project requirements.
12. Competence in Microsoft Office, quality documentation, and document control platforms.
13. Minimum of 5 years' experience in rail project management.
14. Experience with depots, trackside, and London Underground projects.
15. Previous leadership roles in complex project management.
16. Extensive knowledge of rail transit systems, including DC power, earthing, MEPH systems, oil recovery, and sanding.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree, HNC, or HND in Building Services, Construction Management, or related fields.
2. CIBSE MIET, Sentinel Pass, Rail medical, and PTS certifications are advantageous.
