Operations Director – Geotechnical

Salary: £110,000 – £130,000 + Car + Bonus + Package

With recent private equity investment, the company is poised for significant growth and is seeking a dynamic leader to drive the business and operational delivery.
The Opportunity
Leading the Operations for the UK and Ireland business, you will report into the European MD, working alongside the Growth and Strategy Director, and Finance Director.
Working directly with the Managing Director, you’ll shape the company’s future—building on a strong foundation to expand its presence across the Rail, Water, Highways, Ports, Environmental, and Construction sectors.
You’ll oversee the team responsible for delivering projects ranging from £50k to £10m+, ensuring the business has the right strategy, capability, and resources to deliver success at every scale.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead, define, and deliver the Operational Strategy for the UK and Ireland business, ensuring alignment with wider commercial and growth objectives.
2. Provide leadership and management of the Project Management function, driving performance, consistency, and best practice across project delivery.
3. Collaborate closely with in-house Technical and Business Development teams to support tenders, bids, workforce planning, and resource forecasting.
4. Develop and maintain long-term frameworks and strategic partnerships, positioning the business as a market leader in geotechnical and ground engineering solutions.
5. Report directly to the Managing Director, contributing to strategic business planning, operational excellence, and growth initiatives.
6. Lead resource planning activities to ensure operational capacity and capability meet current and future growth targets.
7. Support the Managing Director in identifying key project opportunities, workforce capability requirements, and skill gaps necessary to achieve business growth objectives.
Job Requirement
About You
8. Degree-qualified in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
9. Proven experience delivering geotechnical or ground stabilisation projects in a senior operational or project leadership role.
10. Strong understanding of technical delivery, operational management, and commercial considerations.
11. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with demonstrable client-facing experience.
12. Full UK driving licence
Working Pattern: You’ll be based in Milton Keynes 3 days per week for the first six months, collaborating closely with the MD and leadership team to establish the operational strategy and workforce delivery. After this period, the role will move to a more flexible hybrid working pattern, based around the needs of the business.
