This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join one of Northern Ireland's most recognisable public sector employers. The Audit Manager will be responsible for all areas of the team's activities including the development, implementation and review of audit procedures, team training, resource planning and workflow management. As a fully Qualified Accountant, the post holder will provide guidance, and expert advice on auditing and other matters to internal and external stakeholders, building long-term, effective working relationships throughout the organisation. The role will provide significant opportunities for the post holder to participate in and contribute to team and wider organisational continuous improvement projects. If successful in this process, you will be a key member of the team responsible for assisting Northern Ireland businesses grow, compete internationally, and to attract new foreign direct investment to NI. Closing date for applications Friday 17th October 2025 *Full job description available on request About you A fully qualified Accountant with a minimum of 5 year's PQE, having completed the professional examinations and be a full, current member of one of the bodies listed below: a) Association of Chartered Certified Accountants b) Chartered Institute of Management Accountants c) Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy d) Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales e) Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland f) Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland Experience in developing audit procedures and leading audit teams and ensuring effective control mechanisms are in place Experience of management and delivering process improvements while adhering to high standards of corporate governance Experience in drafting and/or interpreting legal contracts, financial structuring and implementing practical financial arrangements Experience of providing advice, based on detailed analysis to facilitate evidenced based decision making by senior level stakeholders Strong leadership and staff management experience with responsibility to plan, allocate and monitor resources What you'll do Leading a team of people responsible for the effective and efficient auditing of claims for financial assistance. Designing, implementing and evaluating auditing procedures in accordance with relevant corporate governance and auditing best practice. Ensuring the team delivers key objectives, within optimal timeframes and to a high standard. Inputting into the drafting of legally and financially robust contracts, advising on commercial clauses and conditions. Identifying areas for and to take the lead on developing and improving systems and processes to deliver efficiencies and enhance corporate governance. Designing and delivering high quality and relevant training to the team. Engaging with key stakeholders, clients and internal staff, providing high quality advice and guidance in relation to the auditing of claims and the structuring and auditability of grant offers. Liaising with internal audit and the Northern Ireland Audit Office as required. Delivering high quality, accurate and timely financial information and reports to meet the needs of internal users. Inputting into the delivery of risk management and corporate governance objectives. Taking on key roles in other agency wide projects being undertaken as required.
