Perspectum is a market leader within the Medical Imaging industry, we are looking to expand our dedicated Physics department in our Oxford Headquarters by recruiting a Scientific Software Developer to the team. About the role The physics department is part of a multidisciplinary R&D team, with academic and industrial experience in clinical science and diagnostics, MRI physics and biomedical image analysis. The physics department is responsible for developing quantitative MRI methodologies that are integrated into a suite of MRI protocols and processing algorithms. As a Scientific Software Developer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining software tools which incorporate a range of algorithms from Physics and the wider R&D team. These are built in MATLAB and Python and play a key role in translating R&D prototypes into products for deployment in clinical trials and future medical devices. Your Duties will include: Development, testing and maintenance of tools which feature algorithms developed by the R&D teams - including graphical applications, packages/libraries, and command line tools. Contributing to algorithm development and data analysis. Maintenance of infrastructure for continuous integration and deployment. Providing technical support to internal users. Preparing documentation, e.g. validation reports, engineering specifications, installation, and user guides. Presenting to internal audiences. About You To be successful in this role, you will need to be motivated by producing reliable and maintainable code. You will also need to be comfortable maintaining complex legacy systems and providing support/training to colleagues. You are likely to have a background in science together with proven software development experience. Above all, you will need attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Your knowledge and experience will include: A degree in a numerate discipline. Professional (or open source) experience building software as part of a team. Experience building complex applications in MATLAB. Experience using version control software, unit testing frameworks and CI/CD systems. Confidence using command line tools and scripting languages. Good understanding of object-oriented programming. Good understanding of the software development lifecycle: requirements capture, design, implementation, code review, testing, issue tracking, etc. Working knowledge of Python, including managing dependencies and virtual environments Desirable experience includes: Postgraduate degree in a numerate discipline. Knowledge/experience of medical imaging, image processing and/or machine learning. Experience maintaining legacy software systems. Experience with cloud computing (AWS preferred).
