Veterinary Care Assistant – Join Our Independent, Compassionate Team
We are an independent small‑animal veterinary practice built on compassion, respect, and professionalism - with an excellent local reputation. As our team continues to grow, we're looking for a dedicated Veterinary Care Assistant who shares our values and is eager to play an important role in caring for our patients and supporting our clinical team.
About the Role
This is a hands‑on, varied position where no two days are the same. Your responsibilities will include:
* Assisting veterinary nurses with day‑to‑day clinical tasks
* Helping to care for in‑patients, ensuring they are comfortable, clean, and well looked after
* Supporting vets and nurses during consultations and procedures
* Maintaining a clean, hygienic, and well‑organised practice environment
* Carrying out general cleaning duties across all areas of the practice
* Providing reception support, including greeting clients and handling basic enquiries
* Being a proactive, positive presence within the team and stepping in to help wherever needed
Hours & Working Pattern
* Shift‑based role with a mixture of early and late starts - Monday to Friday
* One in three Saturday mornings, 8:30am–1:00pm
Salary
* £12.71 per hour
About You
We're looking for someone who:
* Is compassionate, reliable, and genuinely passionate about animal welfare
* Works well as part of a team and communicates clearly
* Is proactive, hardworking, and willing to learn
* Takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and patient care
Previous experience in a veterinary setting is beneficial but not essential — enthusiasm, kindness, and a strong work ethic matter most.
