West Kent Primary Care is seeking to employ a Pharmacy Technician on behalf of Tunbridge Wells Primary Care Network (PCN) to support their team of technicians and work with one or two of their eight member practices.
Tunbridge Wells Primary Care Network (PCN) is made up of 8 member GP practices servicing over 84,000 patients. We are a forward-thinking, dynamic, and cohesive PCN offering services including First Contact MSK Assessment, Social Prescribing, Paramedics, and Clinical Pharmacy.

Main duties of the job The post holder will work with practice prescribing teams to support effective medication use through conversations with patients and Primary Care colleagues. They will support Clinical Pharmacists to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and efficient medicine management systems, including repeat prescribing, medicines optimisation, reducing medicines waste, and maximising patient outcomes. Additionally, they will undertake searches and audits to improve the quality of services provided.
The PCN will fund your enrollment into the NHS England CPPE Education Programme, which lasts for 15 months. Study leave and time off to attend courses will be included in your work plan.

Job responsibilities To undertake patient-facing and patient support roles to ensure effective medicine use.
Carry out medicines optimisation tasks in accordance with PCN and practice protocols to update patients' medical records and prescribing accordingly.
Support the achievement of the practice's prescribing Quality and Outcomes Framework (QoF) targets.
Support the delivery of specifications related to the Investment & Impact Funding system.
Work with Clinical Pharmacists and Prescription Clerks to review and develop repeat prescribing protocols, promoting electronic prescriptions.
Assist Clinical Pharmacists in providing medication reviews, patient information leaflets, medicine awareness, and community visits as appropriate.
Support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives.
Identify good practice areas and disseminate them across the PCN.
Devise and carry out various audits and drug searches.
Person Specification Qualifications BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent, NVQ Level 3, and registration with The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician.
Registered with the GPhC.
Other Knowledge or use of the clinical system EMIS.
Experience Previous experience in primary, secondary, or community care.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Participation in audits or project management experience.
Experience working with GP Practices.
Up-to-date knowledge of drug actions, doses, formulations, and interactions.
Familiarity with NICE technology appraisals relevant to primary care.
Understanding of the NHS Long Term (10-year) plan.
