Position Overview
In this role, you will collaborate closely with the controller to ensure our equipment is always operational and ready for our customers. Your expertise will be crucial in performing timely and efficient routine maintenance, conducting machine inspections, and identifying potential issues that could affect availability. As a safety ambassador, you’ll promote safe practices for yourself and our customers while carrying out your duties.
Key Responsibilities
* Preventative Maintenance Servicing: Conduct routine servicing of equipment according to manufacturer guidelines, including taking routine oil samples (75% of your time).
* Machine Inspection: Perform visual and mechanical analyses of machine conditions, identifying developing issues with systems and components (20% of your time).
* Minor Repairs: Complete minor repairs identified during inspections, install telematic systems, and conduct undercarriage inspections (5% of your time).
What We’re Looking For
* Experience: Ideally, you have around 3 years of experience in a related engineering function (e.g., car mechanic, HGV fitter, Agricultural Engineer) or a formal apprenticeship qualification.
* Skills: A basic knowledge of engines, hydraulics, powertrain, and vehicle electrics/electronics is essential.
* Accountability: You’ll be responsible for attending customer locations, liaising with the service controller, and ensuring all work meets high standards.
* Driving License: A full driving license for at least 2 years is required (subject to a full DVLA license check).
Working Conditions
This is a field-based role with a working pattern of Monday to Friday, including 1 Saturday in 3 at an overtime rate. You’ll work 43 hours per week with flexible start and finish times.
