Service Line Manager - Community Psychosis Pathway

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and innovative manager to lead and develop the service for people with psychosis in the London Borough of Bromley. You will provide operational management, service development and leadership to multidisciplinary teams including Early Intervention for Psychosis, a Community Rehabilitation Service and Community mental health teams. We are currently reviewing our Psychosis pathways across our organisation giving the successful applicant the opportunity to influence the development of our new model of care and embed our vision for a high quality, efficient psychosis service.

The successful candidate will be an experienced manager with strong leadership skills and a proven ability to develop services and manage change. Ideally they would also have experience of working across a range of mental health services themselves.

This Band 8a role provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, recovery-focused care for individuals with complex mental health needs.

The post holder will coordinate multidisciplinary services, drive service transformation, and ensure seamless integration with partner agencies.


Main duties of the job

* Lead the ICMP service line, ensuring effective coordination of multidisciplinary teams.
* Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with Trust policies and national standards.
* Manage performance, quality, and financial oversight of the service.
* Support workforce development through recruitment, supervision, and training.
* Lead on risk management, safeguarding, and governance processes.
* Maintain strong communication with internal teams and external stakeholders.
* Contribute to strategic planning and service transformation initiatives.
* Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and data analysis for service monitoring

Job responsibilities

The post holder will:

* Provide non-clinical leadership and be accountable for the operational delivery and strategic development of the ICMP service.
* Analyse complex service data and implement action plans to improve performance and outcomes.
* Manage delegated budgets and ensure efficient use of resources.
* Lead recruitment, staff deployment, and shift planning across multiple sites.
* Apply HR policies and oversee staff development, appraisals, and supervision.
* Ensure clinical standards are upheld across the pathway, supporting evidence-based care.
* Facilitate training, mentoring, and student placements.
* Engage in service-level research and audits to inform continuous improvement.
* Communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including service users, carers, and partner organisations.


Person Specification


Education/Qualifications

* Relevant professional qualification in health or social care (e.g., RMN, Social Work, Occupational Therapy) or equivalent experience.
* Completion of mandatory training relevant to the role (e.g., safeguarding, infection control, health & safety).
* Where applicable, registration with a recognised UK professional body (e.g., NMC, HCPC)
* Evidence of ongoing professional development aligned with service leadership.
* Qualification or training in management or leadership.
* Experience facilitating training, mentoring, or coaching in a healthcare setting


Experience

* Extensive experience managing community mental health services.
* Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver integrated care.
* Experience in operational leadership and performance management.
* Experience in strategic planning and service transformation.
* Budget management and resource allocation experience
* Partnership working with statutory and non-statutory agencies.


Skills/Abilities/Knowledge

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills across complex and sensitive context
* High level of autonomy in decision-making and strategic leadership.
* Proficiency in using electronic patient record systems and data analysis too
* Ability to interpret complex data and implement service improvements.
* Skilled in planning, organising, and managing competing priorities
* Emotional intelligence and resilience in high-pressure environments.
