Job Overview
* Provide security services in direct accordance with the published Assignment Instructions and any changes.
* Deliver results that meet or exceed Key Performance Indicators / Service Level Agreements to aid contract retention.
* Undertake additional training for continuous self‑development.
Main Duties
* Control access and egress of vehicles and pedestrians in a polite, professional manner.
* Search vehicles and visitors using agreed techniques.
* Ensure all people accessing the site are checked at the point of entry and have the right to enter.
* Ensure no one proceeds through security checkpoints without complying with the current security requirements.
* Report issues affecting site security to the Supervisor.
* Operate and control barrier/gate systems.
* Conduct on‑site security patrols and secondary duties.
* Be available for 12‑hour shifts, including days, nights, public holidays and weekends.
Operations
* Ensure compliance with policies, legal and regulatory requirements as directed by the Security Account Manager.
* Complete all tasks within the Assignment Instructions.
* Review instructions proactively and suggest amendments that improve service levels.
* Maintain a front‑line licence in Security Guarding or Door Supervision, and a CCTV PSS SIA Licence. Renew licence 16 weeks before expiry.
* Comply with all legal obligations and safety requirements.
* Follow instructions and procedures appropriately without unnecessarily challenging authority.
* Work systematically, methodically and orderly.
Training
* Complete all required competency training satisfactorily.
* Undertake additional training as directed by the Security Account Manager.
* Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge through continual professional development.
Security and Health & Safety
* Report any health and safety hazards immediately.
* Remain alert to threats and changes in the work environment and take appropriate action to reduce disruption.
* Use common sense and initiative, involving others if a situation becomes threatening.
* Maintain professional conduct with difficult situations and customers.
* Complete accurate notebook entries after any incident for the Incident Report process.
* Adhere to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the client.
* Ensure check calls are conducted at the allocated times.
* Call emergency services and the Communication Centre to report all incidents.
