You’ll be working in the Public Health Team within the Health and Care Directorate focusing on priorities including diabetes prevention and healthy lifestyles. Our team provides oversight and delivery of the county’s public health responsibilities, offering specialist input, technical expertise, and leadership for a range of programme areas, working upstream to prevent ill health and enable good health and wellbeing. Our focus is on reducing health inequities and achieving the best possible health and wellbeing outcomes for all of Staffordshire’s residents.
Responsibilities
* The Public Health and Prevention team is seeking a passionate and self-motivated individual to help shape, influence and deliver our prevention programme priorities. This is an 18-month fixed-term contract.
* You will support colleagues across Public Health and Prevention to plan, deliver and monitor the implementation of projects to ensure programmes deliver better health outcomes for Staffordshire residents.
* You will need to influence, support and collaborate with a range of stakeholders, such as GPs, Integrated Care Boards, Primary Care Networks, Pharmacists, providers and the public.
* You may be required to support the team with financial payments using the My Finance system, including processing invoices and answering related finance queries.
* You will support performance management of contracted service providers to help ensure value for money principles are embedded into work practices.
* You will report to a Senior Commissioning Manager and will be required to provide effective GP engagement to meet our prevention programme priorities. This role will require travel; it is mainly local (Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent) but there may be a need to travel regionally and nationally on occasion.

* Experience and skills sought: Excellent communication skills with experience of working with internal and external stakeholders, and the ability to negotiate and build strong working relationships.
* Organisational ability: Good organisation skills, with the ability to work under pressure and on own initiative.
* Passionate about improving public health and reducing health inequalities and committed to community engagement and coproduction.
