Mental Health Support Worker (School based) – School-based role in Choppington, Northumberland
The role supports pupils requiring emotional, behavioural, and mental health support, helping them engage positively with school life. The role is Monday–Friday, 8:40am–3:40pm.
Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small group mental health support to pupils
* Assist students in managing anxiety, behavioural challenges, and emotional regulation
* Support the wider pastoral and SEND teams
* Develop trusting relationships with students to promote wellbeing
* Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with school staff
* Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive school environment
About You
* Experience working with children or young people in a support or care setting
* Understanding of mental health needs, trauma-informed practice, or SEMH support
* Calm, patient, and resilient approach
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Ability to work collaboratively with school staff and external agencies
* Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential (training provided)
