Job Summary
Responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the machine shop, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality CNC machining operations. The role focuses on people leadership, production delivery, machining of cast components, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities

Lead, supervise and motivate the CNC machining team
*
Plan and coordinate daily machine shop activities to meet production targets
*
Program and support CNC machining using CAD/CAM systems
*
Oversee machining of castings to required quality, tolerance and finish
*
Optimise tooling, fixtures and machining processes
*
Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, quality standards and H&S requirements
*
Carry out and oversee quality checks and first-off inspections
*
Train, coach and develop machinists and operators
*
Liaise with engineering, quality and production teams to resolve issues
*
Monitor machine condition and support preventive maintenance
*
Drive continuous improvement, efficiency and waste reduction
Essential Experience & Qualifications
*
NVQ / HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing
*
Proven experience as a CNC Supervisor, Team Leader or Senior Machinist
*
Strong hands-on CNC machining background (3, 4 or 5 axis milling/turning)
*
Experience machining cast components (ferrous and non-ferrous)
*
Proficient in CAD/CAM programming
*
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
