Clinical Support Worker - Rigby Unit, Stratford Hospital, South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust. Closing date: 02 June 2026.
South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a compassionate, self-motivated Clinical Support Worker to assist in the delivery of high quality patient care in the Rigby Unit. The unit provides specialist cancer care and supportive treatments to non-cancer patients. CSWs rotate through Reception, Phlebotomy, Outpatient Clinics and the Chemotherapy Treatment Area.
Main duties of the job
The Clinical Support Worker undertakes high quality, caring and compassionate personal care and associated duties under the direction and supervision of the registered professional and as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
Your role is to support the registered professional in delivering safe, effective, compassionate care to patients and their relatives. This job description is to be read in conjunction with the person specification for this role.

Clinical Practice

* Carry out duties as specified within the Trust core task list for Clinical Support Workers/Healthcare Assistants.
* Report to the registered professional any patient concerns or changes in condition.
* Provide and deliver high standard, individualised care under the direction and supervision of the registered professional.
* Document all care delivered, countersigned by a registered professional, maintaining confidentiality.
* Assist in preparation of patients for treatment, investigations or procedures as directed.
* Keep the clinical area clean and tidy and maintain a safe environment.
* Adhere to infection control procedures and cross-infection awareness.
* Chaperone or escort patients as needed under the direction of the registered professional.
* Support relatives with compassion and empathy under professional guidance.
* Assist with discharge processes as directed by the registered professional.
Communications and Interpersonal Relationships
* Welcome patients, relatives and visitors, provide assistance, information and be aware of barriers to effective communication.
* Introduce yourself in line with privacy and dignity promises and customer service principles.
* Answer telephone calls politely and pass inquiries to the registered professional.
* Communicate effectively within the multi-disciplinary team to plan and coordinate patient care.
* Contribute to reporting, handovers and documentation of patient care under supervision, maintaining confidentiality.
* Report incidents, accidents and complaints as per Trust Policy to the senior professional on duty.
* Use Trust information systems as required by the clinical area and in accordance with policy.
Team Working
* Keep patient property safe in line with Trust policy.
* Promote a professional, welcoming and tidy environment; keep storage areas safe, clean and orderly.
* Share responsibility for equipment care and cleaning; dispose of waste and soiled linen per policy.
* Participate in audits under the direction of the registered professional.
* Prepare beds and spaces for discharge or admission (inpatient areas).
* Store deliveries correctly and maintain stock at required levels.
* Support the housekeeper with general housekeeping duties as needed in inpatient areas.
Education, Training and Personal Development
* Attend mandatory training (infection control, resuscitation, manual handling).
* Complete the Trust Clinical Support Worker/Healthcare Assistant Induction.
* Participate in the Trust Appraisal process.
* Undertake training necessary for role development, including IT and clinical skills.
* Continue personal development in relation to identified objectives and stay up to date with policy changes relevant to the post.
Qualifications
* GCSE English and Maths A-C or equivalent.
Experience
* Experience working as part of a team.
* Experience in delivering care in a healthcare or people-centred environment.

* Good written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
* Ability to present information clearly in writing and orally.
