Cylinder Operations Manager — Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 per year + bonus scheme + benefits. Location: Hull Area. Hours: Monday to Friday – no weekends.

Role
We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead our client\'s Cylinder Operations Department. This includes cylinder preparation, testing and oversight of the Dissolved Acetylene Hub. You will ensure safety, quality and efficiency across operations while driving compliance, resource management and continuous improvement initiatives.
As part of the Branch Management Team, you will also contribute to wider strategic objectives and act as Duty Manager when required.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Cylinder Operations Department, ensuring alignment with safety, quality and efficiency goals
* Maintain compliance with accredited standards, including ISO 17020 and ensure UKAS and Notified Body certifications are upheld
* Manage cylinder and drum tank preparation processes, ensuring accuracy in the cylinder tracking system and compliance with standards
* Oversee third-party storage and logistics, ensuring coordination and stock accuracy
* Drive operational excellence by managing resources, meeting SHEQ benchmarks and delivering strong service levels
* Support team development through training, upskilling and competency frameworks
* Foster a safe, inclusive and engaging workplace culture
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives and embed best practices across operations
* Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with internal teams, suppliers and external bodies
About You
* Proven experience leading operational teams within a manufacturing or industrial environment
* Degree in Engineering or a scientific discipline, or equivalent experience (5+ years) in a similar role
* Technical knowledge of cylinders, pressure vessels and metallurgy (steel and aluminium)
* Strong understanding of compliance frameworks including ISO 17020, SHEQ, UKAS and audit processes
* Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and other workflow/operational systems
* Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
