Senior Commercial Manager
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Warrington or Cambridge (Hybrid)
Salary: £70,000 – £90,000 (DOE)
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
About the Company Large multidisciplinary design and build contractors. They deliver next-generation, value-added engineering solutions across the water, power & energy, pharmaceutical, nuclear, and food & beverage sectors.
The Role As Senior Commercial Manager, you will work closely with the Business Unit Leadership Team to drive commercial performance, support strategic objectives, and build strong, positive client relationships.
You will provide senior-level commercial leadership across a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring robust governance, healthy cash flow, and effective risk and contract management.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with the Business Unit Leadership Team to deliver shared business goals
Provide senior commercial guidance across all projects, ensuring strong financial performance and cash flow
Review, negotiate, and manage contract terms with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
Support project managers with commercial advice, risk management, change control, and issue resolution
Collaborate with procurement and contribute to estimating, bidding, and tender reviews
Lead commercial negotiations and provide clear, pragmatic advice during live projects
Develop and mentor commercial talent, maintaining close engagement with Quantity Surveyors
Oversee insurance and bonding requirements
Prepare and present monthly commercial reports
Ensure compliance with company governance, policies, and procedures
What You’ll Bring
Experience or strong knowledge of the M&E / engineering contracting environment
Confident communicator, able to influence at all levels
Customer-focused mindset with a collaborative, relationship-driven approach
Strong IT skills suited to a modern, digital working environment
Relevant degree and/or professional qualification
Chartered status (preferred but not essential)
