Mechanical Design EngineerLocation: Limavady Area Salary: Very competitive with benefits package Contract: Full-Time | PermanentWe are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer on behalf of a growing engineering and manufacturing business within the Limavady area.This is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive design team working on bespoke low-voltage switchgear and engineered solutions within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering accurate, manufacturable mechanical designs while working closely with engineering, manufacturing, projects, and purchasing teams.The Role Reporting to the Head of Design, you will be responsible for producing high-quality 3D models, manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and release information for live engineering projects. You will work closely with multiple departments to ensure designs are practical, accurate, and fully aligned with manufacturing and project requirements.Key Responsibilities Mechanical Design & Project DeliveryCreate and update 3D models using Autodesk InventorDesign mechanical arrangements for low-voltage switchgear assembliesProduce manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and supporting release documentationDesign sheet metal components including frames, plinths, covers, gland plates, support brackets, and enclosuresSupport copperwork layouts, cable access arrangements, ventilation systems, and internal panel configurationsEnsure designs are practical, repeatable, and suitable for manufacture and assemblyWork to project deadlines while communicating progress and technical issues effectivelyDesign Accuracy & Manufacturing SupportEnsure drawings, models, BOMs, and release packs are accurate and alignedReview designs against specifications, GA drawings, and internal standardsSupport internal design reviews prior to manufacturing releaseUpdate designs based on client changes, manufacturing feedback, and review commentsAssist manufacturing teams with design-related queries, fit-up issues, and technical support during productionCommunicate design changes clearly across departmentsContinuous ImprovementSupport standardisation of components, assemblies, and design methodsContribute ideas to improve manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and product qualityAssist with development of templates, libraries, checklists, and design guidesSupport prototype and product development activities where requiredThe Person We are keen to speak with candidates who have:Experience in mechanical design within an engineering or manufacturing environmentStrong 3D CAD experience, ideally Autodesk InventorAbility to create and interpret manufacturing drawingsKnowledge of sheet metal fabrication, folding, punching, and assembly methodsStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailAbility to manage multiple projects and prioritiesGood communication skills and a team-focused attitudeDesirable ExperienceAutodesk Vault or similar PDM systemsLow-voltage switchgear, electrical enclosures, control panels, or machinery designExperience with copperwork, busbar systems, and panel constructionProducing BOMs, DXFs, and manufacturing release packsDesign for manufacture and assembly principlesBenefitsEarly finish every Friday (12pm)Life Assurance SchemeEmployer Pension ContributionPrivate Medical Insurance option30 days annual leaveStrong workplace cultureOngoing training and professional development opportunitiesThis is a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer looking to join a forward-thinking engineering business with strong long-term career prospects and exciting project work.If this role is of interest reach out to for a confidential discussion.INDKYSkills:DESIGN ENGINEER CAD INVENTOR MECHANICAL MANUFACTURING 3D MODELSBenefits:Benefits PackageWHJS1_NI
