About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Sustainability / Building Physics Engineer to join an established building services consultancy in Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-profile projects across education, healthcare, commercial, residential, and leisure sectors.
As a Senior Sustainability / Building Physics Engineer, you will lead sustainability and building physics input across projects, from energy modelling and life cycle assessments to BREEAM, Passivhaus, and Net Zero Carbon strategies. You will also mentor junior engineers and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, low-carbon building designs.
Key Responsibilities
Lead sustainability and building physics consultancy services throughout project lifecycles
Conduct thermal modelling, energy performance analysis, embodied carbon calculations, and life cycle assessments
Prepare technical reports, sustainability statements, and certification documentation (BREEAM, Passivhaus, etc.)
Attend design team, client, and site meetings, providing expert advice and guidance
Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a collaborative learning environment
Keep up-to-date with UK regulations and best practice frameworks, including Part L, NPPF, and local planning policies
Manage workload efficiently to deliver high-quality outputs on time
Candidate Profile
Degree in Building Services, Environmental/Architectural Engineering, Energy, Sustainability, or related discipline
Certified Low Carbon Energy Assessor (or working toward qualification)
Strong experience in building physics principles, thermal modelling, and sustainability assessments
Proficient with IES, AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant software
Knowledgeable in UK sustainability standards: BREEAM, Passivhaus, Net Zero Carbon, Part L, NPPF
Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills
Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
Demonstrable leadership and mentoring capabilities
