Mechanical Engineer – Carlisle
Salary: Starting from £40,000 per annum
Shifts: 4-on-4-off, rotating days and nights

A fast-paced industrial operation in the Carlisle area is recruiting a skilled Mechanical Engineer to enhance fixed plant maintenance. The site supports waste treatment processes and values proactive problem-solving, safety discipline, and engineering precision.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance on plant assets
Prioritise emergency repairs to minimise equipment downtime
Support engineering projects aimed at improving processing efficiency
Execute risk assessments and issue safety permits in line with site protocols
Maintain service records and document work accurately
Contribute to ongoing process development and operational reliability
Liaise effectively with managers for the consistent delivery of service improvements Candidate Profile
Practical mechanical experience in an industrial or plant maintenance context
Familiarity with issuing permits and conducting safe systems of work
Proven ability in planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Engineering Maintenance preferred
Experience with waste treatment or similar processing environments (beneficial)
Organised, communicative, and confident in managing competing tasks
Strong literacy, timekeeping, and record-keeping skills Offered Package
