Occupational Therapist (Neonates & Paediatrics)

The closing date is 22 February 2026

Paediatric & Neonatal Occupational Therapist - B7

22.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and passionate Occupational Therapist to join our AHP team in acute paediatrics and neonates. This role is two days acute inpatient cover and one day in neonates working with the clinical specialist neonatal occupational therapist and another senior OT.

This role will be responsible for establishing the paediatric acute OT service at the Trust and will include service evaluation and audit to measure impact. You will work closely with the acute paediatric physiotherapy team and work collaboratively with families and the wider MDT. You will be joining a dynamic, embedded team with opportunities for joint working, education and training.

This role will predominately be based at the Chelsea site with some input at the West Middlesex Hospital site dependent on clinical needs. We would encourage all applicants to contact the department to discuss the role in more detail.

Main duties of the job

To establish and develop the role of occupational therapy on the paediatric in-patient wards on both sites.

To work alongside the Clinical Specialist Neonatal Occupational Therapist to deliver input to the neonatal units or follow-up clinics as required.

To provide highly specialised assessment, diagnosis and intervention for inpatient infants, children and young people and timely appropriate onward referrals.

To work alongside therapy and dietetic colleagues and the wider MDT to promote the roles of AHPs in neonates and paediatrics.

To engage with clinical supervision and professional support.

To use evidence-based principles/current best practice and specialist skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

To participate in service development projects and QI initiatives, particularly those that highlight the impact of a strong AHP workforce within the paediatric and neonatal unit.

To provide teaching for more junior therapy staff on the occupational therapy role in neonatal and paediatric interventions.

To work with the clinical lead paediatric physiotherapist to deliver best patient care on the inpatient wards.

To collect and analyse data to evaluate the impact of the post and provide recommendations for future service planning.
