The Role Junior Controls Engineer As a Junior Controls Engineer, youll be involved in the design, programming, and commissioning of Siemens PLC control systems for bespoke automation machinery. Youll work closely with experienced engineers, gaining exposure to the full lifecycle of automation projects from concept and design through to testing, installation, and commissioning. Key Responsibilities Assist in the design and development of control systems using Siemens PLCs (S7 / TIA Portal). Support HMI programming, testing, and commissioning activities. Prepare control documentation, wiring diagrams, and schematics. Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams to deliver integrated automation solutions. Provide on-site and remote support during build, testing, and commissioning. Learn from senior engineers and contribute to process improvements. Skills & Experience Required Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering (or equivalent). Some experience with Siemens PLCs (S7 / TIA Portal). Understanding of industrial automation, machine control, or HMI design. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Enthusiastic, motivated, and eager to learn. Desirable Familiarity with Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, or Omron PLCs. Basic knowledge of motion control, safety systems, or fieldbus networks.
