About this opportunity
We are looking for a proactive and knowledgeable HR Advisor to join our HR Advisory Team at Cumberland Council. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative HR team and consolidate your employee relations experience. You will work flexibly across Cumberland based in either Workington or Carlisle with some home working. You will play a key role in promoting best practice, educating and developing line managers, and ensuring alignment and consistency of HR practices across the council.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide professional, accurate, and timely HR advice on policies, procedures, and employment law.
* Support managers in handling complex casework, including disciplinary, grievance, and absence management.
* Promote best practice and build capability through education and guidance.
* Contribute to HR projects and policy development.
* Analyse HR metrics and data to identify trends and recommend interventions.
About you
* Ideally you have Associate Membership of the CIPD or working towards this. Experience HR professionals are also considered.
* Some experience of advising on HR casework such as disciplinary, grievance and capability cases.
* Strong generalist HR knowledge and experience across the employee lifecycle.
* Up-to-date knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively and influence stakeholders.
