Main duties of the job
Deliver high quality, evidence‑based practice nursing services as an autonomous practitioner and lead respiratory care within the multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver respiratory chronic disease management, including asthma and COPD clinics, ensuring care is provided in line with NICE, NHS, and local guidelines.
* Act as a clinical resource for respiratory health within the practice, supporting best practice, patient education, and QOF achievement.
* Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients with long‑term conditions, referring as appropriate.
* Undertake independent clinical assessments and decision making within scope of practice.
* Provide contraception and sexual health services, including assessment, counselling, education, and appropriate referral or prescribing.
* Administer vaccinations and immunisations, travel health advice, wound care, and manage pathology investigations.
* Recognise and refer patients with mental health needs and support safe, effective medication use.
* Contribute to safeguarding responsibilities, manage emergency drug kits, and deliver health promotion and preventive care.
Professional Practice
* Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control.
* Work collaboratively with GPs, nursing colleagues, and administrative staff, and contribute to service development and quality improvement.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse qualification and registration with The Nursing and Midwifery Council with a valid NMC PIN.
* Accredited training in respiratory disease management, including asthma and COPD management.
* Competence in spirometry training and interpretation, peak flow measurement, inhaler technique assessment and education.
* Knowledge of NICE guidelines, BTS/SIGN asthma guidance, and national COPD guidance and care pathways.
Experience
* Excellent communication and people skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a demanding environment, both independently and as part of a team.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.
* Compassionate and patient‑centred approach to care.
* Experience of working in primary care and in a GP practice.
