Financial Controller

The Role
Reporting into senior finance leadership and forming part of the site Senior Management Team, the Financial Controller will take ownership of all financial matters across two UK locations. The position plays a key role in driving financial performance, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making within an international manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working autonomously while partnering closely with operational and commercial stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
* Oversee monthly US GAAP reporting and management accounts
* Produce rolling forecasts and support annual business planning
* Deliver clear KPI reporting and variance analysis for non-financial stakeholders
* Ensure timely and accurate financial information across the business
Controls, Compliance & Systems
* Maintain a robust internal control environment aligned with SOX requirements
* Support implementation and optimisation of corporate systems and ERP
* Liaise with external auditors, HMRC, and internal audit teams
* Ensure all corporate deadlines and statutory requirements are met
* Provide data for annual tax submissions
Commercial & Operational Finance
* Manage working capital and optimise cash generation
* Monitor and control costs, ensuring costing accuracy
* Review contracts including credit checks, pricing, margins, FX exposure, and payment terms
* Identify and recommend actions to maximise profitability
Leadership & Strategic Input
* Support the Site Director and Group Controller
* Lead, motivate, and develop the Finance team
* Contribute to short- and long-term business strategy as part of the Senior Management Team
* Uphold strong corporate governance and ethical standards
Candidate Profile
Essential
* Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent)
* Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader
* Background within international manufacturing environments
* Strong knowledge of financial controls and reporting frameworks
* Experience working cross-functionally in a matrix organisation
* Ability to operate independently while influencing senior stakeholders
Desirable
* Experience in US GAAP and SOX environments
* ERP system optimisation experience
* Exposure to complex contract or project-based businesses
