Job Summary
Part‑time Clinical Pharmacist for HMP Drake Hall, a women’s closed prison near Eccleshall in Staffordshire, approximately 340 inmates. Working within a newly established Women's Health Hub to implement Structured Medicine Reviews (SMR) aimed at improving prescribing practices, reducing polypharmacy, and initiating deprescribing where appropriate.
Hours & Salary
Part time, one day a week (7.5 hours, ideally Wednesday; may consider two half‑days per week but a Wednesday shift is mandatory). Salary up to £57,955 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Main Duties
- Provide expert clinical advice on medicines and polypharmacy to ensure a safe, modern medicines management and optimisation service.
- Deliver an integrated, safe, legal and high‑quality prison pharmacy service as part of a comprehensive healthcare package.
- Lead the pharmacy technician team and wider healthcare staff to foster a positive working environment and retain staff.
- Promote best prescribing practice and develop medicines management understanding across the prison healthcare team.
- Share information on pharmaceutical products, medicines management, legislation and general health education with patients and healthcare staff.
Qualifications & Experience
- GPhC registered Pharmacist.
- Independent Prescriber with experience following qualification.
- Interest in female health.
- Procurement / Audit experience.
- Willingness to undertake training in menopause and contraception (desirable).
- Vocational Masters Degree in Pharmacy including pre‑reg training.
- Experience in hospital, community or prison environment (preferred).
