This role forms part of a newly established Clinical Co-ordination Function in Birmingham and Solihull (BSOL), aimed at improving support for children and young people (CYP) with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism (LD/A).
The Clinical Co‑ordinator will lead on coordinating care and support for CYP with LD/A at risk of hospital admission, ensuring that pre‑admission Care, Education and Treatment Reviews (CETRs) are completed in line with NHS England guidance.
Two positions are available – one covering the Birmingham area and one covering the Solihull area.
For Birmingham, the post holder will sit within the Disability Intensive Care Enhanced (DICE) Team, working to prevent avoidable psychiatric admissions for CYP with learning disabilities and/or autism. The individual will engage directly with children and young people admitted to a mental health hospital, working with networks to proactively support discharge and reduce the risks of readmission.
For Solihull, the post holder will sit with the MPOWER service, working to prevent avoidable psychiatric admissions for CYP with learning disabilities and/or autism. The individual will engage directly with children and young people admitted to a mental health hospital, working with networks to proactively support discharge and reduce the risks of readmission.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership and coordination for CYP with LD/A at risk of admission.
* Hold clinical oversight of complex cases, ensuring proactive risk management, contingency planning, and admission avoidance.
* Monitor and report on the inpatient cohort, ensuring timely discharge planning and post‑discharge support.
* Ensure high standards of safeguarding, governance, and adherence to national and local LD/A frameworks.
* Offer CAMHS inpatient reviews of treatment and support discharge planning, ensuring key stakeholder involvement and referrals completed, and initiate escalation where required to prevent delays in treatment or discharge.
