Job Overview
This role offers an opportunity for an experienced information security professional to work in a fast-paced security operations environment within a research and innovation organization. Working with a team of technical specialists and reporting to the Cloud Information Security Risk Manager, your responsibilities include ensuring the security and integrity of the IT infrastructure, collaborating with development, operations, architecture, and security teams to implement and maintain secure systems, monitor threats, respond to incidents, and improve security posture.
Responsibilities
1. Implement security controls for cloud infrastructures (AWS and Azure).
2. Develop and engineer cloud security policies for threat prevention, detection, and forensic analysis.
3. Implement security solutions for containerized environments and microservices (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
4. Maintain security at every point in the CI/CD pipeline.
5. Integrate security solutions into DevSecOps pipelines, collaborating with UKRI teams.
6. Perform cloud threat modelling and implement countermeasures.
7. Assess third-party cloud and on-premises solutions for security risks and recommend mitigations.
8. Design and enforce cloud security policies, standards, and best practices.
9. Monitor security compliance throughout project lifecycle and in business-as-usual cloud services.
10. Respond to security incidents and alerts.
About You
1. Professional certification (e.g., CISM, CISSP, CompTIA Security+, CCSP, AWS certification).
2. Degree in a related subject or relevant equivalent education.
3. Experience with multi-cloud platforms, including AWS, and cloud security.
4. Experience integrating security into CI/CD pipelines.
5. Hands-on experience with container security (Kubernetes, ECS, Docker).
6. Experience working with Linux and/or Windows OS.
7. Experience in a blue-team environment or similar role.
8. Experience with cloud security posture management tools.
9. Experience performing security audits and risk assessments.
