The role
If you have a flair for creative problem-solving and a keen interest in keeping a busy warehouse environment running safely and smoothly, you will love this role. Reporting to the Deputy Operations Support Manager, you will be the go‑to person for ensuring our site zones have all the right equipment, while also taking charge of keeping our workspace standards exceptionally high. Your impact will be huge—ranging from managing over £2 million worth of essential handset kit to breathing new life into our spaces through office re‑fits and area makeovers. You will work closely with management, maintenance, and teams across our sites, and we will provide full training on MHE operation, power tools, and pallet racking inspection to help you succeed and grow from day one.
What you'll take on
- Manage and track essential kit: Oversee the handset software system and cabinet management, keeping accurate records of all site kit, managing Highbay equipment, and arranging repairs or remote support where needed.
- Transform the environment: Lead physical site improvements, from building furniture and installing signage to handling full office renovations and removing old fixtures.
- Maintain safety and standards: Conduct regular floorwalks and audits with management teams, log tickets on ServiceNow, complete PAT testing, and inspect and repair shelving and pallet racking.
- Keep inventory moving: Complete twice‑weekly counts of courier consumables across the Elmsall Complex, collaborate with commercial teams on deliveries, and order stock based on site survey needs.
- Collaborate and connect: Coordinate with internal departments like Maintenance and Health & Safety, meet with third‑party suppliers, and actively engage with colleagues on Yapster to answer queries.
What you'll bring
- A practical, hands‑on approach: DIY experience or comfort using a variety of hand and power tools, with a willingness to learn how to operate MHE (wave machines).
- Flexibility and adaptability: A positive attitude toward changing priorities, a willingness to travel nationally with occasional overnight stays, and the flexibility to occasionally adjust your hours to connect with our night shift teams.
- Strong organisation and eye for detail: The ability to manage your time effectively, meet tight deadlines, and maintain high standards across all your tasks.
- Great communication and teamwork: Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, allowing you to collaborate smoothly with stakeholders and support your teammates under pressure.
- Tech and safety awareness: Comfortable using basic Google Suite applications and a natural awareness of workplace health and safety (previous warehouse experience is a plus, but not essential).
