Solution Architect – Maritime Autonomous & C4ISR SystemsShape the future of naval technology. Lead the design of next-generation autonomous and mission-critical maritime systems.We’re seeking an experienced Solution Architect with deep defence and maritime domain knowledge to steer the technical vision behind modern C4ISR, mission system integration, and autonomous maritime capabilities. This role drives architectural direction across multiple programmes, shaping how advanced technologies come together on naval platforms.This will be a largely remote role - with Client site visits required. Portsmouth, Plymouth, Guildford etc What You’ll DoDefine and innovate system architectures for naval combat systems, advanced comms, autonomous navigation, and integrated platform management.Convert complex operational needs into clear, end-to-end system designs.Work directly with military stakeholders, engineering teams, and industry partners to validate concepts and future capability pathways.Ensure technical approaches meet defence standards for safety, interoperability, and security.Guide technical solutioning in bids, reviewing architectures, estimating effort, and steering governance.Lead design reviews and trade studies to ensure performance, scalability, and multi-platform integration.Provide architectural oversight across engineering delivery to ensure systems remain aligned with the agreed technical direction.Track emerging tech—AI, advanced communications, uncrewed systems—and inject innovation into maritime capability planning.What You BringDegree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or similar.Background in maritime operations, naval service, or defence engineering.Strong experience architecting complex systems in the naval or wider defence sector.Knowledge of surface, subsurface, and uncrewed platforms and their mission system demands.Experience as a technical authority with responsibility for design assurance or governance.Understanding of maritime autonomy strategy, policy, and emerging capability trends.Familiarity with C4ISR integration, combat systems, and cross-platform data exchange.Systems engineering understanding (ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288), plus MBSE and digital-engineering concepts.Practical use of architectural frameworks and modelling tools (e.g., MODAF, NAF, TOGAF, Sparx EA, Cameo).Strong grounding in cybersecurity, safety, and assurance in the defence environment.Excellent communication skills for briefings, stakeholder engagement, and senior-level technical discussions.Security RequirementsMust hold SC clearance and be a sole UK national eligible for DV.
