Loretto RC Primary School is a medium-sized denominational primary school with a current roll of 171, serving the communities of Musselburgh, Whitecraig, and Wallyford, with a nursery for 24 places.
The nursery is non-denominational, though almost all children transfer to P1 at Loretto RCPS. The school has seven primary classes.
The management team in the school consists of the Head Teacher and Principal Teacher. We are looking for a Principal Teacher who is adaptable, collaborative, and embraces our shared leadership approach.
The school benefits from supportive parents through the Loretto Parent Partnership, with strong engagement from pupils and families, and has close links with the local parish.
Outdoor learning has developed significantly, with classes demonstrating cooperation, creativity, and problem-solving skills through various outdoor activities. Pupils participate in national awards, including the P5 John Muir Award and P7 Pope Francis Award, and the school has achieved Rights Respecting Schools Silver status and is a registered Laudato Si (Eco) School.
The school celebrates pupils' achievements through leadership opportunities and weekly assemblies. It promotes Responsible and Global Citizenship through events and charity work.
