Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic researcher to join the group of Dr Tatyana Shelkovnikova at the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN), University of Sheffield, UK.

You will play a key role in the biology support on a translational project funded by My Name'5 Doddie Foundation and aimed at identifying new small molecules targeting a disease-relevant RNA. The candidate will work alongside a team of chemists on iterative cycles of new compound testing in a variety of in vitro and cellular assays.

You will be expected, with guidance from the PI, to perform assay development and analysis of compound activity, compile and present results for team meetings and grant reports, present data at lab meetings and contribute to other activities in the group as needed (e.g. supervision of student projects).

The post is fixed-term for 18 months and is available from October 2025.

Main duties and responsibilities

* Undertake research activities in line with project requirements.
* Perform assay development and analysis of compound activity, using a variety of assays.
* Record, interpret and collate data, supporting the overall delivery of the project.
* Present findings at the lab and team meetings and if required, external events.
* Keep up to date with relevant literature.
* Work independently and as part of a team to deliver the research aims.
* Contribute to supervision of PhD and MSc students working in the group.
* Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.
