Role: Assistant Accountant

Are you an organised, detail-focused finance professional eager to develop your career in a supportive and dynamic environment? Were looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team, providing essential accounting support to our rented and extra care housing services.
What Youll Do
* Prepare and post accounting entries including re-codes, re-charges, accruals, and pre-payments
* Review and report on service charge and revenue variances with insightful commentary
* Support the annual budgeting process, providing guidance and training to operational teams
* Provide first-line finance support and training to operational colleagues via various communication channels
* Prepare balance sheet and fund account reconciliations in line with deadlines
* Help operational managers develop financial management skills through proactive support and advice
* Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
* Work collaboratively with the wider finance team and contribute to continuous process improvements
What Were Looking For
* AAT qualification (or equivalent experience) or willingness to undertake study
* Experience in a customer-focused finance role, preferably within housing or a large multi-site organisation
* Strong understanding of service charge legislation and housing finance processes
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Advanced Excel and IT skills
* Ability to manage multiple deadlines, work independently and as part of a team
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
* Willingness to travel occasionally across UK locations
