Prospect Hospice is seeking an experienced senior clinical leader to take strategic and operational responsibility for our community palliative and end‑of‑life care services across Swindon, Marlborough and Northeast Wiltshire. This is a substantive senior leadership role with accountability for service performance, workforce, quality, governance and system partnership working. Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday Friday, with flexibility as required) Equivalent to NHS Band 8a (please note we are not on agenda for change) The role Reporting to the Director of Patient Services, you will provide visible, professional and operational leadership for: Single Point of Contact (SPOC) Community Clinical Nurse Specialists Hospice at Home Community Clinical Administration You will be accountable for ensuring services are: Safe robust governance, risk management and safe staffing Effective evidence‑based practice and measurable outcomes Caring compassionate, patient‑centred care Responsive timely, equitable access across the community Well‑led strong leadership culture aligned to CQC standards You will oversee service performance, KPIs, budget management, workforce planning and regulatory compliance, while leading service development and transformation in response to local need and national palliative care priorities.
Responsibilities
* Represent the hospice in the ICB and system forums
* Strengthen integration with NHS community services, primary care, acute trusts and voluntary sector partners
* Contribute to neighbourhood and single point of contact models
* Lead service redesign and innovation
* Support business case development and service expansion opportunities
* Contribute to education, research, audit and quality improvement programmes
Qualifications
* Current UK professional registration (NMC/HCPC or equivalent)
* Significant senior clinical leadership experience in community and/or palliative care
* Proven operational management of clinical services, including workforce and budget responsibility
* Strong knowledge of CQC standards and clinical governance frameworks
* Experience of leading multidisciplinary teams in complex, emotionally demanding environments
* Experience of cross‑organisational partnership working
* A postgraduate qualification in leadership, advanced clinical practice or palliative care is desirable.
Prospect Hospice is an independent hospice supporting a community of 300,000 people in Swindon, Marlborough and North Wiltshire, and the villages of Lechlade and Fairford in Gloucestershire. It is the only dedicated provider of specialist end of life care services within it's locality. The Hospices multi‑professionals teams support people in the community, in care homes, at the Great Western Hospital and at the Hospice in Wroughton. Care is also extended to the families and friends of patients.
