We're recruiting on behalf of a large public sector organisation in their search for a Claims Officer.
An exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful work within a respected public sector organisation, supporting the delivery of high-quality services and effective public value through strong financial and grant management.
The role:
* Manage post-award financial administration of externally funded research projects, ensuring timely and accurate submission of claims and invoices.
* Identify and address ineligible expenditures and cost variances to ensure compliance with funder requirements.
* Prepare and submit invoice requests to support accurate financial tracking and timely receipt of payments.
* Provide pre-award support by preparing accurate and comprehensive budgets in line with funder guidelines and internal policies.
* Assist with budget reviews and change requests, ensuring alignment with funding conditions and internal procedures.
* Collaborate with finance teams to integrate research project finances into broader financial systems and processes.
* Support the implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures, and administrative systems that meet audit and funder requirements.
* Foster strong working relationships with colleagues and funding bodies to support smooth financial management and ensure accurate project reporting.
The Person
As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:
Essential:
* Level 4 or *equivalent (HNC) and administrative experience.
OR
* 2 A levels (or equivalent) and administrative experience.
OR
* 5 GCSEs including Maths & English language or equivalent and extensive administrative experience.
AND
* Practical experience of working in a financial reporting and / or management role, within a finance department.
AND
* Have experience of financial reporting and / or management of a range of grants/contracts to include interpretation of rules and experience of the preparation and submission of claims.
