A growing multidisciplinary environmental consultancy based in Staffordshire is looking for an experienced Senior Ecologist to take the lead on complex ecological projects, guide junior colleagues, and play a key role in shaping high‑quality environmental outcomes locally and nationally.

As the Senior Ecologist, your key responsibilities will include:
* Leading ecological projects from inception to completion, ensuring high‑quality outputs.
* Managing client relationships and maintaining strong communication throughout each project.
* Conducting fieldwork and interpreting ecological data for complex projects.
* Supporting and mentoring junior ecologists, contributing to their development and the wider teams success.
* Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, planning policy, and best‑practice guidance.
* Producing and reviewing technical reports, estimates, and project documentation
The Senior Ecologist will have the following skills and experience:
* Degree and/or postgraduate qualification in Ecology or a closely related subject.
* Strong technical knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy, and ecological best practice.
* Demonstrable knowledge of core ecological surveys and protected species surveys, including Bats and Biodiversity Net Gain.
* Membership (or eligibility) of CIEEM or other relevant professional body.
* Bat Level 2 Licence (essential).
* EPS Great Crested Newt and other protected species licences (desirable).
* Proven experience in project management and client liaison.
* Proficiency in report writing and IT applications (Microsoft Word and Excel).
* Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to work flexible hours for surveys, including early mornings and evenings across the UK.

This is a hybrid role, working from various locations across the UK as well as from the office in Stone, Staffordshire
