DEPARTMENT: BBC Film, Content Division
LOCATION: London Broadcasting House, London - Hybrid
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £80,000 – £90,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Purpose Of The Role

Join BBC Film, a key part of the BBC’s Content division, at the forefront of British independent filmmaking. As Head of Film Finance, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial operations and strategy of BBC Film, supporting the development, production, and distribution of 12–15 feature films annually.

This is a senior role that combines financial expertise with a passion for film, helping to deliver bold, original British cinema to audiences across the UK and beyond.

Your Key Responsibilities and Impact

* Leading across financial operations within BBC Film, covering development, production, and exhibition activities.
* Drive internal financial management, ensuring effective investment strategies, strong partnerships, and optimal value across the film slate.
* Act as a senior representative of BBC Film at financial forums, festivals, and industry events in the UK and internationally.
* Production Finance: Guide producers on finance plans, deal terms, recoupment, and UK Tax Credit structures; monitor cash flows and resolve financial issues; Working closely with Legal and Business Affairs on financial negotiations.
* Sales & Distribution: Lead financial strategy for film exploitation across sales, distribution, and BBC platforms; manage relationships with agents and distributors; enhance visibility of BBC Film titles across the BBC.
* Internal Finance: Oversee the annual budget, forecasting, and spend tracking; manage financial reporting, project status updates, and revenue collection; coordinate payments and final cost reconciliations with production teams.

Your Skills and Experience

* Significant financial expertise within the UK and/or international film industry, particularly in the independent sector.
* Proven experience managing the day-to-day financial operations of a film funding organisation, with a strong understanding of public film funding in the UK.
* Demonstrated ability to assess the financial viability of feature film projects, including budget management and reporting.
* Strong industry network and knowledge of both UK and international film markets and audiences.
* Deep understanding of film sales, distribution, exhibition, and production.
* Experience supporting the end-to-end filmmaking process with a diplomatic, collaborative, and solutions-focused approach.
* Passion for film and the arts, with the ability to balance creative ambition with financial strategy.

Please note this role will be mapped to our Internal CPF title of Profit and Loss Manager
