About the Role — Learning Support Assistant (SEN)
Location: Maidenhead
Salary: £101.40 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:45pm (Term Time Only)
Start Date: January 2026
Interviews and trial days: December 2025 & early January 2026
This specialist school supports pupils with high-support Autism, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Global Development Delay (GDD). Many pupils communicate non-verbally, so emotional intelligence, patience, and creativity are essential.
You will support pupils with:
1. Sensory regulation and sensory care
2. Personal care (toileting and hygiene routines)
3. Communication through play, art, music, and visual tools
4. Daily therapeutic activities inspired by OT, SALT, and Clinical Psychology practices
This role offers highly valuable clinical and therapeutic exposure for postgraduate pathways such as Clinical Psychology, Art Therapy, and Educational Psychology.
What is Global Development Delay (GDD)?
GDD refers to significant delays across two or more developmental areas — movement, cognition, communication, or emotional development.
In this role, you will learn to understand each child’s sensory profile, emotional needs, and individual learning style, helping them achieve meaningful progress.
