15 hours per week (2 days per week)
We are currently seeking an Advisory Qualified Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People to join our team on a part time temporary basis until 31st July 2026, with immediate effect. We welcome applications from Qualified Teachers for the Deaf with suitable skills and experience.
The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues both in the Deaf Education Team and wider Inclusion Service, to ensure barriers to learning for Children and Young People with a Deafness are removed and best possible outcomes are achieved. Neath Port Talbot Inclusion Service recently achieved positive outcomes in the recent Estyn Local Authority Inspection.
As an Advisory Qualified Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People, you will support CYP with a deafness to support and liaise with parents/carers and all professionals within education to minimise the educational difficulties associated with deafness..
Your daily routine will involve identifying and promoting good practice in the teaching and learning of CYP with a deafness in educational settings, including pre- school and provide support for school staff (e.g. teachers, teaching assistants) working with individuals in the class situation. You will identify and / or contribute towards training programmes required by schools to extend their knowledge and ability in providing for the needs of CYP with a deafness. This may also include the training of staff to use specific equipment to support the CYP. This may include the teaching of sign language and use of a range of specialist audiological equipment.
You will be expected to contribute to Individual Development Plans (IDP), when necessary and contribute to Person Centred Reviews (PCR), ensuring effective liaison with CYP, parents/ carers, staff and ALNCos in regard to developing outcomes, writing reports and monitoring the progress of CYP with a deafness.

1. A degree level qualification
2. Qualified Teacher Status
3. Relevant teaching experience
4. Mandatory qualification to work as a Qualified Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People (QToD).
